Year Completed: February 2014

Uniquely located within a residential neighbourhood, the St. Thomas Consolidated Courthouse (STCC) is a preservation and expansion project that provides expanded, modernized justice services for the region.
The design preserves two significant heritage buildings: the Elgin County Courthouse and the former Land Registry Office which incorporates a large but discrete addition. The new courthouse contains eight courtrooms, two conference settlement rooms and space for: courtroom support, judiciaries, Crown Attorneys’ offices, the Police Court Bureau, victim witness assistance services, counsel services, prisoner holding, court services, building services, and parking. 3-storey windows as well as skylights provide ample natural lighting and create an open spatial separation between the existing courthouse and the new addition. In keeping with contemporary sustainable initiatives, the STCC is designed to be environmentally sustainable by utilizing a strategy minimizing the carbon footprint of the building while also preserving its existing heritage assets.
JLL provided project monitoring and project management scheduling review and claims analysis services.
