Canada’s Crown Jewel: Lao Feng Xiang Opens Flagship Store in Vancouver

Luxury jeweler selects JLL Project Management to manage the design and construction of first Canadian location

VANCOUVER, Nov. 18, 2015 – Lao Feng Xiang (LFX), one of the oldest Chinese luxury jewelry brands, opened its first Canadian store on Vancouver’s Luxury Lane on Alberni Street. The iconic brand selected JLL’s Project and Development Services team to manage the full transformation of the existing space.

The Canadian market entry – a 2,200 square-foot space at 1016 Alberni Street – is an important step of Lao Feng Xiang’s plans for global expansion.

“Canada is a multicultural nation, and as one of the largest cities in the country, Vancouver is known for its quality of life, natural beauty and is a key tourist destination,” said Wang En Sheng, spokesperson for LFX. “Once we expanded to the U.S. market, it only made sense that we look to Canada immediately after, and Vancouver is the ideal starting point for our brand.”

LFX entered the North American market in 2014, with their first store opening in New York City. The vision was to use that store as a benchmark for the Vancouver location, while still maintaining natural Canadian elements. The 2,200 square-foot space was completed in September of 2015.

“It was important to the LFX team that the new location conveyed their dedication to quality,” said Adil Jessa, Senior Project Manager at JLL. “They were looking for an open, luxurious space that was true to the values and history the brand has preserved through the years. Our team worked tirelessly to manage the aggressive timeline and complete the project in a way that would fully meet the style and standards of the client.”

JLL managed the full project and provided a customized solution to convert the space from a dry shell into a luxury themed jewelry store. Additionally, the firm facilitated management and coordination of IT, signage, millwork and audio visual to ensure that neither the budget nor the schedule of the project was compromised.

“Through heritage and diversification, LFX has intuitively known when to innovate,” said Sheng. “By nurturing the most talented designers and utilizing the project management team at JLL for this project, we can ensure our tradition will live on.”
