​Current Responsibilities
Mr. Carter is responsible for the management of JLL’s variable projects in Ontario. He brings specific expertise with Canadian subsidiaries of US parent companies and working with US decision makers, architects and consultants on Canadian projects. Matthew prides himself with a consistent track record of delivering on time and on budget and attributes this success to consistent communication and tight focus on goals. Mr. Carter has over eight (8) years’ experience in the construction and project management industry. Joining with Jones Lang LaSalle in 2008, Matthew has supported and overseen various large and small scale projects in multiple provinces in Canada. Each assignment is approached with the same initiative and dedication while utilizing JLL’s proven methodologies and technology.
Amazon – Office Relocation – Toronto, ON
  • New space for Amazon’s Toronto office. 120,000 sf – planned expansion for Toronto location with US architect and engineers; adhering to policies to support the building’s LEED core and shell; anticipated 5 month construction schedule.

Desjardins-Fast track project-Toronto, ON
  • Desjardins bought a technology company and asked JLL to find temporary facilities - 6 week turnaround to move in - and permanent facilities- 4 month turnaround with design and construction- to suit the fast growth of this internet services group within the Bank.

  • Intuit occupied 3 floors of a building with an option on the 4th floor at 30,000 sf implemented in 2014. They asked JLL to assume risk for the entire consulting team on an open book basis. The target for their tenancy was LEED Silver and the team opted to reuse the build out from previous tenant. 

Microsoft Canada – Microsoft Technology Centre (MTC) and refresh – Office Fit-up
  • Multiple phase interior renovation of existing occupied space to build out and refresh 40,000 sf.  Project included bringing to Canada, Microsoft’s first Technology Sales Center, refresh of customer interacting areas and upgrades to building security.  

Microsoft Canada – New Development Studios – Victoria, BC – Design Build
  • This projected consisted of three (3) phases to provide office/studio space for a new development team starting in Victoria BC.  The local client wanted to mobilize during design to quickly start their project and Phase 1 required temporary space to immediately accommodate the current Microsoft team.  Phase 2 was to fast track build out two (2) of four (4) floors of brick and beam space and the remainder of floors to be built out post occupancy.  Total floor plate of 48,000 sf.

Microsoft Canada – Office Relocation – Edmonton, AB – Office Lit-up
  • ​Relocation and tenant fit out of a 6,000 sf sales office in Edmonton, Alberta.  Occupied March 2012
  • Prior to joining the firm, Matthew was involved with all aspects of construction while positioned as a project coordinator for new store construction with Nygard International.  Duties included scheduling, accounting and communicating with the landlords and city officials for multiple 10,000 square foot Fashion Parks in Eastern Canada.
Education and Affiliations
Mr. Carter has completed various courses in Construction Management with George Brown and holds a Certificate with Honors in Construction and Project Management with Humber College PMI approved program of studies. Currently Matthew is in the process of achieving his certification through Humber College’s Project Management Institutes (PMI) approved program of studies. ​
