Current Responsibilities

Ranko is a Senior Electrical Engineer for the Commissioning & Building Analytics team.

Ranko joined the team as of 2009 as a Electrical Commissioning Engineer. For the MGCS: New Data Centre project, built for the Ontario Government in Guelph, Ontario, Ranko developed/implemented and commissioned all of the Electrical Division 16 equipment associated with the Centre. This included a 24MW electrical diesel standby generator power system (12 units @ 13.8kV/2MW each) as well as a 6MVA UPS (6 module – 600V) system. Ranko also coordinated with the Uptime Institute to coordinate the Tier 4 certification currently in place at MGCS. Following his work at MGCS, Ranko was involved as both Electrical Commissioner and Project Manager for the Sault Area Hospital and Woodstock General Hospital Projects. Bringing in his expert electrical background, Ranko electrically commissioned both projects and was responsible for changes in the electrical construction which benefited the coordination of the Emergency Life Safety systems.  Currently Ranko is working on commissioning and document development for JLL’s multiple Health Care Facility projects as well as commercial sites.

Experience

Prior to joining the team, Ranko worked in the Power Generation Field at Toromont CAT. Working primarily as an Electrical Engineer, Ranko gained valuable experience in the Distributed Power Generation field primarily in diesel/natural gas generator set applications. Ranko developed and coordinated the electrical power integration and control (25MW of prime power) for the prestigious Agnico Eagle Meadowbank Mine in Nunavut, Canada (2 million ounces of expected Gold extraction). To this day Ranko continues to test/commission diesel/natural gas generator sets and systems and is considered to be an expert in this field.

For the three years preceding Toromont CAT, Ranko gathered knowledge in the   consultant engineering field with his work at Mulvey & Banani. This included core design services in the following: Power Distribution Design-Which included sizing/specifying of high voltage incoming switchgear, emergency power coordination/design, transformer sizing, circuiting, and phase balancing. Lighting Design-Which included lighting level design, modeling/rendering and load calculations. Security/AV System Design- Which included system concept design. Coupled with his design responsibilities, Ranko also had project management duties which lead him to lead site inspections and coordination meetings for the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts, Rexall Centre (Located at York University), AGO renovations and Rogers Centre renovations projects.
