Net absorption in each of the Greater Montreal Area’s submarkets in 2017

• Net absorption is defined as the change in occupied area from one time period to another. The values above demonstrate an increase in economic activity and demand for industrial space in all submarkets, particularly Laval, the North Shore, and the West Island.

• It should be noted that after correcting for the difference in land area of each submarket, Saint-Laurent became by far the most active market with a net absorption of 10,532 square feet per square kilometer. To give some perspective, the second most active submarket by area was Lachine, with 4,559 square feet per square kilometer.​
