Canadian households managed to save more than $180 billion throughout the pandemic, or roughly $5,800 per Canadian adult. This amount should be unleashed into the economy in the form of consumption. Once restrictions ease and jobs are recouped, the sectors going through rough patches should recover strongly ‒ especially entertainment and food services.
