Project manager by day, hero by night

JLL’s Roxanne Keane spends her free time as a first responder.

When she’s not leading project management for JLL’s corporate offices across the U.S., Roxanne Keane is part of a team of volunteer first responders at the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 in New Jersey.

Roxanne spends most nights and weekends volunteering as Captain of the First Aid Department, leading over 30 EMTs and EMRs. She orchestrates 911 response strategies, delegating duties and organizing effective plans to handle each situation. During the coronavirus crisis, she’s faced unimaginable challenges.

“When I started volunteering with this squad, I never thought we’d be faced with something like this,” said Roxanne. “EMS squads are among some of the bravest front liners in this pandemic. We see people at their worst before the hospital staff.”

While the past several weeks have been some of the most demanding she’s ever experienced, Roxanne says she’s inspired by her fellow first responders and the impact they’re making in their community.

“The people I volunteer with are some of the most inspiring I know — they’ll keep putting their lives at risk every day in order to protect our community during this pandemic, and after it’s over.”
