Jeremy Sheldon, FRICS
Head of Markets, Asia Pacific, China
This International Women’s Day and every day, we are proud to recognize our inspiring women leaders and allies at JLL.
Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
That is a difficult question as I have many female inspirations, but I will focus on a newish colleague to my direct sphere of influence, Ulrike Klemm, TM hub lead in Hong Kong. Ulrike was offered the role from Singapore to Hong Kong last year at a time when protests and civil unrest was very evident. This did not deter her from taking the role. Since then we had the trouble with the Coronavirus. She handled it all in her stride. She is a fantastic addition to the team, enthusiastic, always willing to get involved and has stepped in at a time of need. Never a word of complaint or uncertainty only “what more can I do”!
Why does inclusion matter to you?
Diversity is important to me because that is real life. As a husband and father to three children, my wife and I are always trying to ensure that my daughter and my sons get equal opportunities in all they do. They obviously like different things and we need to make sure there are no obstructions to take a path that maybe is less traveled.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
The TM/Markets business has a lot of inspiring women and men across APAC, over 800 at last count. Their skill sets and the interplay of their individual skills serve our clients every day as they adopt a OneJLL approach. I need to ensure that all/any potential gender, geography or generational obstacles are removed so we can serve our client organizations as well as being true to JLL’s own ambitions.
