Mencía Barreiros Juste
Head of Marketing, PR and Research Southern Europe, Spain
This International Women’s Day and every day, we are proud to recognize our inspiring women leaders and allies at JLL.
Who is a female inspiration/role model to you and why?
Being Spanish I’m lucky to have an array in female role models in our ancient and recent history. Starting from the Catholic Queen, Isabell II, that was key to the unification of a country that would grow into an empire to Ana Patricia Botín, one of the world’s most influential pushing players in a male dominated world such as the banking sector.
Why does inclusion matter to you?
Inclusion matters to me as it means tearing down any walls that people might have raised to separate them from their peers. The best way to advance is to meet everyone eye-to-eye and walk supporting each other in the same direction.
How are you inspiring women to achieve their ambitions at JLL?
I try to lead and inspire by setting an example to all of my peers, both female and male. I take it to be always available and fair, whilst acknowledging people’s merits and recognizing my faults. Also, by seeing failure as a valuable lesson rather than “an end experience”.
