Recipient of the 2024-2025 JLL Award for Black Students at UBC Sauder announced
The award celebrates Black students in commercial real estate who are pursuing a career in the industry
TORONTO, June 19, 2025 – JLL is proud to continue its partnership with the UBC Sauder School of Business for the fourth consecutive year, dedicated to supporting and empowering Black students with aspirations in commercial real estate.
The award serves to eliminate financial barriers for students, opening new doors of opportunity and enhancing diversity across the industry. UBC Sauder selects recipients based on their superior academic performance, exceptional leadership abilities, and significant community involvement.
Toluwani Adekeye, Bachelor of Commerce
“I feel so fortunate to have been chosen, and receiving the JLL Award is truly an uplifting moment for me. In 2021, I chose to leave my small hometown of Sherwood Park, Alberta, to attend UBC and pursue the ambitious goals and expectations I had set for myself. As the oldest daughter of three children, I have always strived for ways to minimize my financial burden on my family and take control of my learning journey. Awards like these are more than just financial support; they are a validation of the hard work I have put in during my three years at the UBC Sauder School of Business. They are also a reflection of donors’ commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion. Receiving this award alleviates financial responsibilities and enables me to continue pursuing both my studies and community involvement. I know that my family is filled with pride and gratitude knowing that my dedication has been recognized by someone who believes in me and the potential of Black Students. JLL, thank you once again for your generosity and making a lasting impact on my life and education!”
Beyond the JLL Award for Black Students, the company maintains its dedication to championing respect and inclusion for everyone through its active Black Professionals Network.
"Our warmest congratulations to Toluwani on her tremendous success. At JLL, we're deeply invested in recognizing and empowering students from diverse backgrounds, and we take great pride in helping shape the educational path and professional opportunities for such outstanding individuals," expressed Diane Cunha, Head of Human Resources, JLL Canada.
JLL congratulates the 2024-2025 recipient of the JLL Award for Black Students and looks forward to supporting future generations of talent.
