Matt Picken is managing director and the head of Capital Markets for Canada. He’s responsible for all Capital Markets teams and involved in the origination and execution of investment transactions in every major market and asset class.
In his day-to-day role, Matt also leads the Capital Markets team in Toronto, focusing on the origination of equity transactions spanning assets classes, including office, industrial and development land.
Since joining the firm in 2015, Matt has helped JLL Canada’s Capital Markets platform grow tremendously, cementing its position as one of the country’s leading commercial real estate advisors.
Before joining JLL, Matt was a partner at Brookfield Financial and vice president with RBC’s Capital Markets group in Toronto.
With over 25 years’ experience in commercial real estate advisory and investment banking, Matt has worked for many of North America’s leading investors, including pension funds, REITs, corporations, institutions and family offices.
Over his career, Matt has been involved in more than $10 billion in transactions, advising on many of the largest development and income property transactions ever completed in Canada.
Matt holds a degree from the University of Western Ontario. He was president of the NAIOP Greater Toronto Chapter in 2014 and has been involved in several noteworthy charities, including Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Big Brothers of Toronto, Prostate Cancer Canada, Covenant House and The Michael Garron Hospital Foundation.
