It has now been three years since the incursion of the COVID pandemic in North America, which profoundly impacted sales, profitability, and in many cases, even survivability. Now, demand is steadily returning, both for QSR/fast casual and dine-in restaurants, although markets vary widely in the strength of diner demand. New challenges – some stemming directly from COVID, others more recent – are being faced by the F&B industry, and new trends and opportunities as well.
In this report, we look at how demand has returned over the last few years; what challenges are impacting restaurant operators most and how they are tackling them; and interesting trends emerging in the industry.
